(Somaliguardian-Mogadishu)- An emergency evacuation order has taken into effect concerning government compounds in Mogadishu as security warning has been raised of potential Al-Shabaab attacks.
The government employees and officials at the Mothers’ House in Mogadishu and nearby compounds have been told to evacuate after fear of oncoming attacks has been raised.
The construction of the National Theatre has been stopped as voluntary employees working at the construction site were told to evacuate the compound. Government employees who were working at these compounds have confirmed to Somaliguardian that all activities and movements have been ceased with the specter of heavy security presence in the area.
The security warning has been issued by the security office of the presidency, Villa Somalia which ordered the full evacuation of the Mothers’ and Theatre compounds in Mogadishu to minimize casualties of possible Al-Shabaab attacks.
The move has created fear and alarm in the capital and it’s yet unclear how such a security alarm could raised over potential attacks targeting compounds in the heart of the capital despite the presence of security forces in every 100 steps and blockades at all the streets in Mogadishu.
The security in Mogadishu have been precarious with continued attacks on government employees and security forces taking place on a routinely basis. However, the government of Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khayre has not yet achieved its commitments pertinent to restoring security in Mogadishu, the most populous city in Somalia and a strategic business hub, full of life.
