Deputy governor of Lower Shabelle region in Somalia killed in a grenade attack

(Somaliguardian-Mogadishu)- The deputy governor of the Lower Shabelle region of Somalia Omar Mohamoud Elmi known in public as Omar Arrabey has been killed in a grenade attack at his home.

A grenade has been hurled at the home of the deputy governor of Lower Shabelle region Omar Arrabey that caused his injury as authorities report.

The deputy governor sustaining a fatal injury was transferred to Mogadishu’s Digfer hospital to receive an emergency medical care.

However, Arrabey died shortly after he was brought in Digfer hospital as the regional authorities confirmed.

The governor of the Lower Shabelle region Ibrahim Adan Ali speaking to media stated that his deputy was killed in a grenade attack and that security forces were investigating the case.

Meanwhile, an IED explosion killed a landmine clearance officer who was working to demine an IED device earthed near number50 road in Lower Shabelle region. Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the killing as the landmine expert was killed by the very IED device he was demining.
