Kenya’s Wajir County Hit By Deadly Al-Shabaab Attack

NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) –The Somali Islamist group, Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for an attack on Police reservists in Wajir Country.

In a statement, the group has said they carried out the attack in which they killed 6 members of Kenyan Police and seized weapons.

According to residents in the area, the militants managed to enter Police reservists and caused damage, while seizing weapons including rifles.

Wajir Police have claimed Tuesday that they killed 4 Al-Shabaab attackers, but there is no independent confirmation of the claim so far.

Al-Shabaab often carries out attacks in Kenya’s remote and restive north-east region where large communities of Somalis inhabit despite Kenyan government efforts that have not yet succeeded to hold the group at bay.
