Mogadishu: Suicide Bomb Blast Targets a Gathering of Undercover Security Agents

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – several undercover security agents and police officers were killed in a suicide bomb blast in the Somali capital, Mogadishu on Thursday.

Witnesses told local media that a suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest at a gathering of plain-clothed security agents at Black Sea junction in the city’s Howlwadag district.

Several undercover security agents and police officers are said to have been killed in the attack with a number of others wounded who have been later rushed to hospitals in the capital.

Among the dead is the commander of undercover security agents in Howlwadag district whose name has been identified by local media as Ano-geel.

Security forces have immediately rushed to the scene and cordoned off the site of the attack.

No one has immediately claimed responsibility but Al-Shabaab armed group that wages war against the federal government and allied foreign troops often claims credit for similar attacks.
