NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – More than 20 people were killed after air strikes hit a market in the town of Alamata in the south of Ethiopia’s war-hit Tigray region, TPLF-controlled Tigrai Television reported on Tuesday.

The television network shared footage purporting to show the aftermath of the air raid and dead bodies, and injured civilians being rushed to a hospital.

On Monday, a spokesman for Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) Getachew Reda said a drone attack targeted a minibus in the town of Mlazat bordering Afar region killing 30 people.

There were similar attacks against civilians” in Maychew and Korem in southern Tigray, he added.

His comments have come after TPLF announced it would withdraw its forces from Afar and Amhara regions to give peace talks a chance, in what many described as a turning-point in the 13-month conflict.
