KHARTOUM (Somaliguardian) – Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed his country’s support for Sudanese military operations on a disputed area on its border with Ethiopia during a visit to Sudan’s capital, Khartoum.
Egyptian president’s spokesman Bassam Radi told media that El-sisi expressed support for Sudan’s efforts to exert authority over disputed territory on its border, which had been taken by Ethiopian militias.
Egypt’s support is “based on the firm conviction that Sudan’s security is an integral part of Egypt’s security and stability,” Radi told media.
Talks between El-sisi and the head of Sudanese Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan focused in particular on “developments in the situation on the Sudanese-Ethiopian border area, and the recent Sudanese moves to extend sovereignty over its eastern borders bordering Ethiopia,” Egyptian president’s spokesman said.
“[Sudanese military operations] come within the framework of Sudan’s respect for international agreements establishing borders, and its constant endeavor to assert state sovereignty peacefully and without resorting to violence.”
