NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta promised to secure the release of Cuban doctors kidnapped by Al-Shabaab in Mandera County in 2019, Counterterrorism Policing Kenya said on Monday.
Kenyan leader made the assurance during a meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla on Saturday.
Landy Rodriguez Hernandez, a surgeon, and Assel Harrera Correa, a specialist in general, were kidnapped by Al-Shabaab in Mandera and their whereabouts have since remained unknown.
“I just want to say that we value your support and reiterate that Cuba has a true friend in Kenya. We will always stand in solidarity with you in whatever form at the multilateral level,” Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said.
