NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – A local Kenyan official was killed in an ambush laid by militants in Kenya’s Mandera County, Al-Shabaab armed group said on Tuesday via its affiliated media, in the latest of a string of attacks in the Northeastern region of the Horn of Africa nation over the past weeks.
The official was in charge of Omar Jili’ow village in Al-Arabiya area in the northeastern region’s Mandera County, according to media affiliated with insurgents.
He was captured in an ambush while heading to the town of Mandera and has been later killed. Militants behind the attack also torched a motorcycle transporting Kenyan soldiers.
Kenyan authorities have not immediately commented on the attack and claims by militants.
