NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – Russia is recruiting Ethiopian volunteers who will be deployed to fight alongside Russian troops in Ukraine, as the West says Moscow’s invasion is losing momentum in areas near the capital Kyiv, Ukrainian embassy in Ethiopia said on Monday.
“Trying to recruit Ethiopian Youth, Russians do not tell anybody that as of April 18, 2022 over 20,000 of RU invaders has already met their death in Ukraine,” Ukrainian embassy in Ethiopia’s capital said in a statement.
“Not even visa applications as well as travel passports brought by these frank Ethiopians do not stop Russian military spies who work undercover here in Addis Ababa to engage young and innocent people into Satan’s Invasion of Ukraine.”
Videos circulated online on Monday showed dozens of Ethiopian volunteers lined up outside Russian embassy in Addis Ababa, who are seeking to be deployed to fight alongside Russian troops in Ukraine.

Russian president Vladimir Putin earlier ordered the deployment of battle-hardened mercenaries from conflicts in Africa and the Middle East, in an effort to avoid risking additional Russian military casualties during the weeks-long invasion of Ukraine.
Ethiopia has not immediately commented on the Ukrainian statement.
