KHARTOUM (Somaliguardian) -The Head of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah al Burhan has ruled out resorting to war scenario as dispute with Ethiopia over a land on the border between the two countries continues to escalate.
In an interview with France 24, he said Sudan is seeking to obtain its rights through negotiations and compromise with its neighbor, stressing the need for both sides to reach a binding legal agreement that could preserve the right of future generations to come.
“Our relationship with Ethiopia necessitates reaching a satisfactory and legal agreement. We do not have a desire for a clash and escalation with neighboring Ethiopia, but our right to sovereignty over our lands will not be hindered by any obstacle.” the head of the Sudanese Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said.
Asked about UAE initiative to solve dispute over the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, he said “we seek to have all initiatives integrated and under the auspices of the African Union”.
“We believe in the African solution and trust the ability of the African Union.”
Al Burhan demanded the existence of guarantees that can reinforce the African solution to bring an end to spiraling tensions between Khartoum and Addis Ababa.
