Ten Soldiers Killed in Kenya Roadside Blast, Al-Shabaab Claims

NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – At least 10 soldiers were killed after their convoy had been ripped through by roadside bomb blasts in Kenya’s Lamu County, Al-Qaeda-aligned militant group Al-Shabaab claimed on Thursday.

The blasts took place on the road linking Kinyonga and Mirani in Lamu County, Somali radio stations reported on Thursday, citing Al-Shabaab-affiliated media.

Kenyan Defense Forces have not immediately commented on the claim, which comes a few weeks after a number of its soldiers had been killed in similar attacks near the town of Ras Kamboni in south Somalia’s Lower Juba region.

Other roadside bomb attacks took place in Lamu last month for which Al-Shabaab claimed credit.
