NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – Tigray forces said on Sunday Ethiopian and Eritrean troops taking part in an offensive in the northern war-hit region suffered high casualties.

So far, more than 93,000 enemy forces, including officers, were killed and wounded in the past 39 days,” Tigrayan authorities said in a statement.

“More than 10,000 have been captured. Large number of heavy weapons, 3 T-72 tanks, thousands of medium and light weapons, large number of communication radios, arms and ammunition have been captured.”

In a tweet, Tigray government spokesman Getachew Reda said Eritrean soldiers are among the prisoners captured during the ongoing fighting in the region, adding that they had been “forced to assume that their foray into Tigray would be a cakewalk.”
