NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – Two non-Muslims were executed when Al-Shabaab militants attacked their villages in Kenya’s Lamu County on Sunday night, just days after police said four officers had been killed in attack by the insurgents.
Al-Shabaab, an affiliate of Al-Qaeda said on Monday its fighters had carried out and killed two non-Muslims in the villages of Widhu and Salaama in Lamu after midnight on Sunday. It is the fourth attack by the rebels to hit the county in just 10 days, targeting both security forces and non-Muslim locals.
Kenyan security officials have not immediately commented on the raid and claims by insurgents.
On Friday, county police said four officers had been killed after being ambushed by “bandits”, in an assault claimed by the Islamist group Al-Shabaab, whose fighters have been staging attacks in Kenya since 2011 following Kenya’s incursion into Somalia.
