NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – The Director of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom said on Monday Ethiopia and Eritrea’s forces were using starvation as a weapon of war in the conflict-torn northern region of Tigray, which has been under prolonged humanitarian blockade.

The humanitarian situation in Tigray, Ethiopia is catastrophic,” Tedros tweeted. “More than 6 million people have been sealed off from the outside world by Eritrean and Ethiopian forces for more than 500 days and counting. Starvation is being used as a weapon of war.”
