Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Two people were killed in bomb attack and subsequent gunfire in the town of Baidoa in south Somalia on Saturday night, local officials have confirmed.

A grenade was thrown at the home of Somali custodial corps chief Mahad Abdirahman in the town of Baidoa while he was in the capital, Mogadishu.

At least one of the guards at the home was killed and two others wounded in the bomb attack, according to journalists in Baidoa.

A young girl, who has been identified as Hanan Barre by local media, was killed when guards opened fire shortly after the explosion had been heard.

Local officials have not immediately commented on the attack, which is not the first of its kind as militant attacks targeting local officials and security forces have increased over the past few weeks.
