Ethiopia’s Military Claims Killing 42 People Involved in Attack

Somalia

ADDIS ABABA (Somaliguardian) – Ethiopia’s military has killed 42 armed men who took part in a recent massacre in western Benishangul-Gumuz region, a day after gunmen shot dead more than 100 people in the region, state-affiliated Fana TV reported on Thursday.

Ethiopian soldiers reportedly seized bows and arrows and other weapons used during the massacre from the men who were involved in Wednesday’s dawn attack, Fana said, citing regional officials.

It comes hours after Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said he had deployed troops to the region to restore stability and bring an end to simmering ethnic tensions.
