MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A senior Banadir regional police official has succumbed to injuries from a suicide bomb attack on Saturday, a spokesman for Somalia’s police has told media.

The deputy commander of police for the capital Mogadishu was attending a security meeting at Wabari police station when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the facility last week, killing at least 6 people and wounding more than 7 others.

He sustained severe injuries from the bombing that also resulted in the death of the commander of the police station where the attack had taken place and other senior security officials.

Somali Minister of the Interior has sent condolences to the family, loves ones and the friends of the security official.

Al-Qaeda-aligned militant group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the blast, which is latest in a series of militant attacks targeting government officials and security forces in Mogadishu.
