NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – Severed head of a Kenyan government official captured by militants in an attack on northeastern Kenya, has been discovered on Monday, police say.
Kenyan government official in charge of the town of Gumarey in northeastern Kenya’s Wajir county, Omar Adan Bul, was abducted by fighters of the militant group Al-Shabaab in an assault on the town on Friday.
His severed head has been found three days later on Monday near the town of Khorof-harar in the same region, police say, while his headless body remains undiscovered so far amid ongoing search.
Al-Qaeda-linked Islamist group Al-Shabaab has confirmed on Tuesday that it killed the official, but gave no further details.
It comes a few weeks after a senior Kenyan military official had been killed in an attack on the northeastern region.
