Somalia: Alleged Car Bomb Owner Demands UN Compensation

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A local Somali businessman Eise Haji Abdulle has said he owns a vehicle which the United Nations recently said had been packed with explosives and would be used by militants to hit high-profile targets in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.

The businessman speaking to local media denied that his vehicle was loaded with explosives and described information reportedly circulated online by the UN office in Mogadishu as “fake”.

Mr Abdulle stressed his SURF car with a number plate of AH 2737 went through a security check at the Criminal Investigation Department office in the capital, Mogadishu.

The Somali businessman told media that the “fake” information put his life and property at risk, and demanded UN compensation.
