Director of Somalia Presidency Resigns After Losing Bid to Premiership

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) –Dr. Nur Diriye Hersi (Fursade) has resigned as the director of Somalia’s presidency after his battle to premiership came to an abrupt end, officials have confirmed on Friday.

Fursade has been a close associate of the incumbent president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo since he was appointed to office last year.

Over the past few days, he was one of the political figures shortlisted for Somalia’s premiership after Hassan Ali Khaire was removed in a parliamentary vote of no-confidence.

The director has not yet commented on the news of his resignation, but officials at the presidential palace have confirmed to somaliguardian that he handed in his resignation to president Farmajo.

The official angry at losing battle to premiership is said to have returned to Canada from where he earlier tripped before becoming the director of Villa Somalia.

Mr Fursade was the 5th director of Somalia’s presidential palace, appointed to the post since early 2017 when President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo was elected to office.
