MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Former president of Hirshabelle regional state Mohamed Abdi Ware accused Somalia’s president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo of being against the “federal system” and raised fears over the direction the war-torn country is being headed.
“[Farmajo’s] government never hides what it wants, it does not want the federal system,” said Mohamed Abdi Ware, Hirshabelle’s former regional president in an interview with Hanolato program.
Waare reiterated that the federal government intends to rule the country in ways similar to that of Siad Barre’s military administration and in dictatorship, and that president Farmajo made clear that he did not want any of his rivals to be in a policy making process.
According to Waare’s remarks, president Farmajo is averse to breaking the deadlock over elections, corroborating statements earlier made by the opposition and the leaders of Puntland and Jubaland.
“If you are part of this party [Farmajo’s party] you will live, otherwise you will not,” he added.
“If the ongoing talks break down and [Somali stakeholders] fail to reach a solution, remember my words Somalis will never again be asked for decisions; if you think Saeed Deni and Ahmed Madobe will return and Farmajo will stay, you are dreaming.”
