Al-Shabaab says Somalia, Djibouti leaders were part of deal ‘handing over Somali territory to Ethiopia’

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Al-Qaeda-aligned militant group Al-Shabaab said on Tuesday the Presidents of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Djibouti Ismail Omar Ghuelleh were part of a pact that cleared the way for Ethiopia to get access to a leased land along the Horn of Africa country’s Red Sea coast.

In an audio message, Al-Shabaab spokesman Ali Dhere said they “won’t accept that Ethiopia annexes an inch of the territory belonged to the Somali Muslim people”, adding that Somaliland leader Muse Bihi Abdi, who signed the deal with Addis Ababa, does not represent Somalis.

Ali Dhere called on Somalis to unite for defending their country from Ethiopia, alleging that Addis Ababa is seeking annex the whole of Somalia’s 3,333 kilometer-long coast.
