MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A meeting of Arab Ministerial Working Group was held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo on Wednesday, that focused on efforts aimed at support Somalia in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Foreign Minister HH Prince @FaisalbinFarhan participated in the meeting of Arab Ministerial Working Group on supporting Somalia in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity on the sidelines of the 162nd session of Arab League Council at the ministerial level,” Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement on X.

The meeting reaffirmed strong Arab solidarity with Somalia, Somali Foreign Ministry said.

“The group rejected external interference and called for respect for Somalia’s sovereignty. The committee also rejected Ethiopia’s MoU on annexation,” it added.

Since Ethiopia signed a memorandum of understanding with the self-declared state of Somaliland in January to get access to a naval base along the Red Sea, Somalia’s government has begun lobbying the international community to condemn Ethiopian actions and secure support in addressing tensions with Addis Ababa.
