MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – At least 17 people, including civilians and police officers were wounded after security forces in northern Somalia’s break-away region of Somaliland clashed with protesters on Monday.
Police used live ammunition to disperse a crowd of demonstrators in the town of Borama, days after the killing of local security officer triggered anger.
Images circulated online showed civilians sustaining injuries from the shooting as troops attempted to break up the protest, months after a similar demonstration led to the breakout of fighting in the town of Lasanod.
