At least 5 dead after car bomb attack in Somalia’s capital

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – At least five people were killed and a number of others wounded when a vehicle packed with explosives went off near the National Theater in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Saturday, Caasimada Online news website reported. 

The attack targeted a busy restaurant near the Mother’s House compound, which is the headquarters of the National Women’s Association. 

Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and journalists were not allowed to the reach the blast site. Videos circulated on social media showed a black smoke pillowing into the sky shortly after the explosion. 

It has not yet been clear how a car loaded with explosives reached the area which is inside the security perimeter of the presidential palace. Authorities have yet to give comments about the attack.
