MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A blast targeted Kenyan military convoy near the coastal town of Ras Kamboni near Somalia’s southern border with Kenya, militants claimed responsibility on Wednesday.
The explosion destroyed an armored personnel carrier, killing a number of soldiers who were on board and wounding others, media affiliated with Al-Shabaab reported.
Militant group did not say how many soldiers were killed in the attack, which comes days after Islamist fighters carried out a series of attacks targeting troops in northeastern Kenya.
Kenyan peacekeepers in Somalia have not immediately commented on the claims by the Al-Qaeda-aligned group. It is not yet clear whether the targeted convoy was part of the Kenyan contingents of the African Union peacekeeping mission in the Horn of Africa nation.
