MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – An explosion at a military training camp in the town of Bardere in south Somalia’s Gedo region killed at least two soldiers and wounded a number of others, Caasimada Online news website reported on Monday.
New army recruits were being recruited at the camp as the bomb went off on Monday, in the latest militant attack targeting security personnel in the restive region.
Al-Qaeda-aligned militant group Al-Shabaab said it had carried out the bombing, claiming to have killed two soldiers and wounded 10 others.
Local authorities have not immediately commented on the attack, which comes amid tensions between pro-government authorities in the region and Jubaland regional administration.
