MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Bulgaria is planning to start negotiations with Somali pirates who have recently hijacked the Malta-flagged, Bulgarian-owned bulk carrier Ruen off the coast of Somalia’s Puntland region, maritime news agency Splash 247 reported on Monday.

Bulgarian authorities say they are likely to start negotiations with Somali pirates to release the ship’s crew. The hijacking is the first documented piracy activity off Somalia coasts since 2017.
