MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somaliland claims that Djibouti has welcomed the leader of Awdal state and is supporting him to mobilize residents in the region against authorities in Hargeisa are “false and baseless”, Djibouti’s Minister of Finance Ilyas Mohamed Dawaleh said on Monday.
“We value the principles of togetherness and always remain out of neighbors’ internal affairs,” Dawaleh said in a statement on X
“Therefore please do not involve 🇩🇯 in your internal politics or campaign’s agenda. Keep in minds, yesterday we were accused of supporting Somaliland against SSC Region.”
It comes days after Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi threatened that Djibouti will face consequences for its support of Awdal state. A regional opposition leader Faysal Ali Warabe also vowed that they would arm opposition against Djibouti’s leader Ismail Omar Ghuelleh.
