MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi invited his Somali counterpart Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to visit Cairo amid escalating tensions between Mogadishu and Addis Ababa over a recent sea access deal the latter signed with the breakaway region of Somaliland.
“President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud hosted a high level delegation from Egyptian President his excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the State House in Mogadishu,” Villa Somalia said in a statement on Monday.
“The delegation conveyed an official invitation for President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to visit Egypt.”
