MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has said Ethiopia’s military seized key airports in Gedo region and began arming clan militias across the country amid tensions over a controversial MoU with Somaliland.
In a new interview with Al Jazeera Arabic, Mohamud stressed that Ethiopia completely took over control of Gedo region where it continues arming clan militias to undermine Somali government’s authority.
Asked about the MoU between Ethiopia and Somaliland, Mohamud reiterated that Addis Ababa does not want an access to the sea and that on the contrary, it is seeking to annex parts of Somalia’s territory.
