MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Ethiopia’s military informed Somalia’s federal government and two of the country’s regional states that it will withdraw its forces from key towns in Bay and Gedo regions, as the conflict in the northern of Ethiopian region of Tigray heats up.
In a letter sent to the Somali Ministry of Defense and Jubaland, and Southwest regional states, Ethiopia’s military said it intended to pull out its troops from the towns of Qansah-dhere in Bay region and Burdubo in Gedo region.
Somalia’s federal government and the two regional states have not immediately commented on the letter.
Ethiopia did not say whether troops pulled out from the two restive towns in Somalia would be returned home to participate in the war raging in the country’s north.
