MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed on Monday blamed injustice for the renewed clashes between over the country’s clan based power-sharing system in the southern and central regions.

Speaking on the anniversary of June 26th, the day northern parts of Somalia gained independence in 1960, Sharif said it was painful that clashes between rival factions of the Somali federal government and regional states continued throughout south and central Somalia.

“The civil wars and the loss of lives are caused by injustice and oppression,” Sharif said.

It came amid clashes ongoing in northern Somalia’s Lasanod town, Barawe town in the Lower Shabelle region and tensions in Hiran and Gedo regions, mainly over clan-based power-sharing system.
