MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Minister of Information Daud Aweys has denied accusations that a recent military deal with the United Arab Emirates violates the country’s sovereignty, months after the two countries restored diplomatic relations.
It came days following reports indicating that the defense agreement triggered heated dispute at a meeting of cabinet ministers.
Aweys said under the terms of the agreement, the UAE will provide essential support in stabilizing Somalia and fighting Al-Shabaab militants.
