MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Mediation efforts led by Galmudug regional president Ahmed Qoorqoor, aimed at ending rift between Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and his Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, “came to an abysmal failure” due to big hurdles from the president’s side, regional minister said on Thursday.

As you all may have been aware, the president of Galmudug Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoorqoor) has recently been busy in resolving a dispute over Ikran Tahlil’s case, which triggered a rift between president Farmajo and prime minister Roble,” Galmudug state minister for presidency Omar Shido said in a statement on Thursday night.

[Mediation efforts] came to an abysmal failure tonight, with prime minister Roble’s side showing more readiness but other big hurdles came from the other side that led to the collapse of talks.”

Asked about the authenticity of the statement by VOA Somali, Shido confirmed it was issued from his office and regional president would brief media.
