MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Kenyan air strike killed nearly a dozen livestock and destroyed civilian homes in a town in the southern Somalia region of Gedo, Somali army official Adan Ahmed Rufle said on Saturday.
“Kenyan warplanes that took off from Mandera carried out an air strike in El Adde, hitting two homes in the center of the town. A number of Livestock animals were killed there, including 21 goats, one camel and a hoarse,” Somali army official Adan Rufle said.
“There were no casualties on civilians, livestock and homes were destroyed. Furthermore, there are at least 5 unexploded lying in the center of El-Adde town.”
Kenya has not immediately commented on the air raid and the Somali army claim that it had hit civilian residential area.
Over the past years, Kenyan warplanes have carried out dozens of air strikes targeting civilians and their livestock in Gedo and other regions in the south of Somalia.
Col. Rufle said civilians leave their homes as they hear the sound of Kenyan warplanes to avoid the prospect of being hit by indiscriminate air strikes on their residential areas. He adds that this has prevented casualties on civilians during the recent strike.
