MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A court in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Wednesday handed down a death sentence to Sayid Ali Moalim Daud after he was found guilty of burning his wife to death in January.
The court held two hearing proceedings which were televised across the country before issuing the ruling despite criticism from the family of the convict.
Sayid Ali told the court that he had set his wife on fire but his lawyers argued that his intention was not to kill her and that he was “jealous” after his wife asked for divorce.
