MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Al-Qaeda-aligned militant group Al-Shabaab attacked army base on the outskirts of the port city of Kismayo in south Somalia, media affiliated with the insurgents reported on Thursday.

Insurgents claimed overrunning a military camp in Barsanguni outside Kismayo, which is the seat of power of Jubaland regional administration. Al-Shabaab also said its fighters killed a number of soldiers and seized weapons. The assertion could not be indecently verified.

Jubaland authorities and the Somali army have not yet given any comments about the attack.
