Mortar attack targets camps for security forces in Somalia’s capital

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A mortar attack struck bases for security forces in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu and surrounding neighborhoods on Wednesday night, hours after two car bombings left at least 6 soldiers dead and more than a dozen others injured, Caasimada Online news website reported. 

Explosions caused by the mortar rounds were heard across the Somali capital and its outskirts late on Wednesday, but casualties have not been immediately known. 

The attack targeted security camps in Garasbaley and Elasha-biyaha areas, where Somali government troops have been conducting a house-to-house search operations over the past days, arresting hundreds of people.
