Mortar round on Somalia parliament fired at point-blank range: MP

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A mortar round that targeted Somalia’s parliament on Monday had been fired at point-blank range, the head of a parliamentary committee tasked with preparations of an upcoming vote for speaker and his deputies Abdirizak Omar Mohamed said on Tuesday.

A mortar round that is not part of the heavy ones fell outside parliament gate [and] security agencies informed us that mortar bomb on parliament was fired from short distance,” the MP said.
