MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Mumbai Traffic Police received a message from an unidentified person warning India to avoid a “Somalia-type” attack, a week after receiving threats about another “26/11-like” assault in the city, the Indian Express reported on Saturday.
The message sent from an unidentified number registered in Somalia did not issue any threat. It came days after the Somali militant group Al-Shabaab attacked an upscale hotel in the capital Mogadishu last week, killing more two dozen people.
“While the number is registered in Somalia, we are trying to find out the message was sent from where. It is possible that someone from another country sent the text,” a Crime Branch officer said.
“Even in the earlier case, where the 26/11 terror threat was issued, while the number used to send the messages from Pakistan, technical investigation has revealed that the IP address belonged to one UK-based VPN,” the officer added.
