MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre held talks with with his South Korean counterpart Han Duck-soo in a meeting held to foster stronger bilateral ties and explore avenues for cooperation between the two countries, his office said in a statement on Thursday.
The meeting, held in Seoul, saw both leaders engaging in discussions aimed at enhancing collaboration in various sectors, including trade, infrastructure development, and security cooperation.
During the talks, Prime Minister Barre of Somalia expressed his country’s keen interest in leveraging South Korea’s expertise and experience in areas such as technology, education, and healthcare to drive socio-economic development initiatives in Somalia.
Prime Minister Duck-soo of South Korea reciprocated the sentiment, affirming his country’s commitment to deepening engagement with Somalia and supporting its efforts towards stability and prosperity.
In addition to bilateral matters, the leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern, including the promotion of peace and security in the Horn of Africa region.
Following the meeting, both Prime Ministers expressed optimism about the prospects of closer collaboration between Somalia and South Korea, signaling a shared commitment to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between their respective nations.
