MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud promised that he would share power with regional states following his election on May 15, the leader of the northeastern semi-autonomous region of Puntland Saeed Abdullahi Deni has told The Economist.
Deni said Mohamud’s first move after securing landslide victory in last month’s election was to invite regional presidents to a meal together, in the course of which also pledged to complete a new federal constitution.
New Somali president said he would cooperate with all regional authorities and promised not to retaliate against those who were installed by the outgoing leader Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
