MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – New MPs of northeastern Somalia’s Puntland state were sworn in on Monday despite strong rejection from opposition presidential candidates ahead of a crucial vote scheduled for later this month.
In a press conference, candidates seeking to challenge the incumbent President Saeed Abdullahi Deni in the upcoming vote said they will not recognize the new parliament, adding that the MPs had been picked by the government.
