MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Authorities in northeastern Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland have said they arrested the alleged ringleader of the pirates behind the hijacking of MV Abdullah, a Bangladesh-flagged ship.
The man was arrested in the central Somali town of Galkayo, months after receiving ransom money from the ship which had been hijacked in March, officials told local media.
The pirates earlier claimed that they had received a ransom money of $5 million in exchange for the release of the ship in April.
