MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A senior police official identified as Adan Omar Ahmed was shot dead at a heavily fortified area in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Friday in an attack claimed by the insurgent group Al-Shabaab.
Men armed with pistols fired shots at Ahmed while he was at a teashop popular with security officials near the country’s biggest police academy known as School Polizia in Hamar-jajab district.
Questions have been raised about how the attackers were able to carry out such an attack at an area surrounded by a series of security checkpoints and escape without detection.
Somali officials, including the President of Southwest state Abdiasis Laftagaren sent condolences to the family and friends of Adan Cumar Ahmed, who was also known as Adan Biit.
