MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somali MP Abdullahi Kulane, who formerly served as the deputy director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency during the tenure of President Farmajo, said on Monday that the incumbent President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is planning to auction off-shore oil blocks in a black market.
“In total disregard of the country’s laws and those of the parliament to scrutinize it, as well as the public’s right to know, the Somali offshore oil blocks will be auctioned on the BLACK MARKET!,” Kulane tweeted.
“President @HassanSMohamud is and has been working on a deal to sell oil blocks and that is his main reason of several travels to Kenya and is again traveling Today to Nairobi to finalize the deal!.”
In response to the comments, Somali Minister of Petroleum Abdirisak Mohamed, who often defends the government on social media, said the claim was “the most obnoxious & absurd allegation” against President Mohamud.
“spreading such blatant lies puts u on par with the likes of known psychopaths. The irony is as MP you either failed to grasp the very obvious fact that president’s role as the head of state doesn’t include in dealing with individual Ministerial portfolios,” he added.
