MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Members of Somalia’s parliament on Wednesday publicly called for President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to resign, accusing him of failing to address the country’s critical challenges and neglecting his presidential duties.
The MPs alleged that Mohamud had admitted to his shortcomings and was taking on tasks beyond his remit, including those typically managed by the Prime Minister.
During a press conference in Mogadishu, several MPs raised concerns about the President’s foreign policy, accusing him of making erratic decisions and signing secret agreements with foreign nations, some of which were reportedly contradictory.
This move comes amid escalating tensions between the parliament and the government. MPs are also preparing to introduce a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, accusing him of incompetence.
