MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud commemorated Europe Day in a ceremony held in the capital Mogadishu to express gratitude for the support the European Union provides to his government, his office said on Wednesday.
“He reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to democracy, strengthening ties, and driving progress through stronger bonds with the EU,” Villa Somalia said in a statement.
“The President reiterated the Somalia government’s unwavering resolve to build accountable institutions and hold direct national elections, emphasizing efforts to intensify the fight against Al-Shabaab with a clear strategy to assume more security responsibilities.”
