MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has not taken a sneak trip to Israel in a move aimed at normalizing relations with Tel Aviv, presidential spokesman Abdikarin Ali Kar told a press conference on Friday.
It came following rumors spread on social media alleging that Mohamud and his delegation sneaked into Israel for talks with authorities there to normalize relations with Tel Aviv and in return win the support of the United Arab Emirates.
But Somali President’s spokesman said the government would not have hidden information about the alleged visit if Mohamud had traveled to Israel.
“Is Israel located in the UAE?,” he asked, adding that Somalia “has no diplomatic relations” with Israel and authorities will not hold back information if a government delegation visits there.
